How to play

Rules & Game Format

KroxNight runs classic social-deduction Mafia in a day/night cycle. One player secretly hunts, everyone else debates and votes, and the truth comes out one dawn at a time. Here's exactly how a night unfolds.

The format

How a round unfolds

1. Lobby & Reveal

Everyone joins with a room code. Once the table is full, the host starts the game and each player privately learns their role on their own screen — no one else sees it.

2. Night

Eyes closed, table quiet. The Mafia silently agree on a target together. At the same time, anyone with a night power (Doctor, Detective, Sniper, Spy, Silencer, Priest…) secretly makes their move.

3. Dawn

The table wakes up to the news: who died overnight, or whether the Doctor's save paid off. Any Detective result is revealed only to the Detective.

4. Day & Vote

The whole table debates in the open, then votes to lynch whoever they think is Mafia. Then night falls again, and the cycle repeats.

A game runs for up to three night/day rounds. Most tables of 4–10 players settle it well before then — but if round three ends with no clear winner, the clock runs out in the town's favor (see How you win).

Voting & lynching

  • Votes are public. When the table votes to lynch, it's a raised-hand tally everyone can see — no secret ballots.
  • Most votes gets lynched. If two players tie for the most votes, no one is lynched that day and night falls again.
  • The Mayor's vote counts as two. Their voice carries extra weight when the table is split.
  • A Silenced player can't vote.If the Silencer muted you the night before, you sit out the next day's vote entirely.
The roles

Every power in the game

The Mafia

Win by eliminating the town until they can no longer outvote you.

Mafia

Eliminate the town. Stay hidden.

Each night, you and your fellow Mafia agree on one player to eliminate. By day, you blend in.

Godfather

Your blood looks innocent.

You vote with the Mafia each night, and your word breaks ties. The Detective sees you as innocent.

Silencer

Steal their voice.

Each night, mute one player. They cannot vote during the next day.

The Town

Win by finding and lynching every Mafia-aligned player before it's too late.

Doctor

Save who you can.

Each night, choose one player to protect. If the Mafia targets them, they survive.

Detective

Hunt the truth.

Each night, investigate one player. The host will tell you whether they are Mafia.

Mayor

Your voice carries.

You have no night action — but during the day, your vote counts as two.

Priest

One miracle in your pocket.

Once per game, you can revive the player who died last night. Use it wisely.

Spy

Watch from the shadows.

Each night, choose a player. You'll see their role. Tell the town wisely.

Sniper

One shot. Make it count.

You have one bullet for the entire game. Pick a night, pick a target — they die outright.

Civilian

Vote wisely. Survive.

You have no special power. By day, debate and vote to lynch the Mafia before they outnumber the town.

Neutrals

Play by their own rules, with their own win condition.

Serial Killer

You answer to no one.

You play alone. Each night, kill one player. You win if you're the last one standing.

TNT

When you go, you take the room with you.

If you die for ANY reason, the players to your immediate left and right die too. Cannot be blocked. Survive as long as you can.

The stakes

How you win

Town wins

The moment every Mafia-aligned player (Mafia, Godfather, Silencer) is eliminated, the town wins outright.

Mafia wins

If the number of living Mafia ever catches up to the number of living townsfolk, the Mafia can no longer be outvoted — and they win.

Serial Killer wins

The Serial Killer plays for themselves alone. They win only by being the last player left standing — town and Mafia both have to fall.

No winner by round three

If the game reaches the end of the third day without a decisive winner, the night ends there and the town wins by default — time is on the town's side.
